Silver Dollars 10-12cm
Silver Dollars 10-12cm Silver Dollars are a gentle and somewhat shy shoaling species that require a minimum aquarium length of 4 feet for their juvenile stages. These fish exhibit rapid growth, necessitating a larger tank of at least 6 feet by 2 feet by 2 feet as they mature. It is essential for them to be kept in groups, with a minimum of six individuals recommended to foster a sense of security; larger groups are even better for their well-being. The aquarium should be placed in a tranquil area, away from heavy foot traffic, as these fish are easily frightened. To accommodate their skittish nature, the tank should include numerous shaded hiding spots and tightly fitting covers to prevent accidental escapes. Careful selection of decorations is crucial, as sharp objects can injure them during their quick retreats. When maintaining the aquarium, it is important to minimize disturbances to avoid startling the fish. Silver Dollars primarily feed on plant matter and have strong teeth, making them voracious eaters of most aquatic vegetation present in their habitat.
