This small fish can reach up to 3 cm (1.2 in) in length. Unlike most tetras, they lack a small second dorsal fin. Additionally, they have a black area at the base of their caudal fin. Their bodies are transparent with an overall copper sheen, which turns silver at night when they rest and reactivates to copper in the morning when they become active.
