Whirlpool 12002535 Wax, 1.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 Inch, White

$ 5.43

I used this to replace a wax motor (11176-63) in my Frigidaire washer (LTF2140FS0).This little device saved me a bunch of money. Our Frigidaire front load washer was leaving clothes soaking wet. In the past, we had a different problem where it wasn’t draining so the clothes were all sudsy and wet. Not this time, the difficult to access trap was clear and plenty of water was pumping out. This time, after successfully draining, it would turn back and forth a few times then just quit.I searched online and found the magic knob and button combination to enter “diagnostic mode”. I had to turn the knob to Drain/Spin cycle, press Cancel to turn off the LEDs and with 5 seconds, hold option and pause/cancel buttons until the LEDs all lit up. I turned the knob 8 clicks from Drain/Spin to put it in final spin mode. To get out of diagnostic mode I just unplugged the washer for a few seconds. While forcing it to do a final spin it flashed a 47 error code. More online searching revealed that the wax motor in the door latch assembly could be causing the problem.I unplugged the washer and used needle-nose pliers to pull the spring loaded ring off the rubber boot, pulled the boot aside, and unscrewed two Philips head screws to detach the door lock assembly. There were three molded electrical connectors that were easy to detach. It was very easy to remove (and re-install) the assembly. Once I had the assembly, I carefully released some plastic clips to open it. Be very careful not to knock any spring loaded pieces out, or if you do (like I did) just make sure to put them back so everything moves correctly.Here are the part numbers I found.Assembly: 1317632Wax Motor: 11176-63The assembly was fairly easy to find, Electrolux seems to use them in several Frigidaire and Kenmore washers models, probably other Brands too. If you’re not mechanically intuitive you may want to pay the extra money to buy the whole assembly. But if you’re reading this I’m guessing you are willing to open it up for a chance to save some money.I couldn’t find a wax motor with that specific part number. Fortunately, another reviewer gave me the confidence to give this one a shot even though it’s a Maytag wax motor. It fit perfectly, and the molded electrical connector even “clicked” snugly onto the connectors just like the old one. After putting everything together, it has been spinning nicely and no error codes … so far.
