So I have the worst combination: thick coarse facial hair, I HATE facial hair, and I have sensitive skin. Going to stay as objective as possible.This razor doesn’t have an internal battery. This is easily fixed with a few of AA rechargeable batteries. Swap out batteries often, electric shavers MUST run at full power.Second, this razor is not quick, which for me is good because it makes you take your time and pay attention to irregular hair growth. Know your face and don’t rush. And do not press hard on your face, make multiple passes instead.Thirdly, I took off a star because of the expensive replacement foil and cutter. They last awhile, but it still I think they are overpriced.So, after 15 years of troublesome shaving I have a daily routine that has worked perfectly:1) shower first. The hot/warm water softens the skin and makes the hairs absorb water. Thicker hair is easier for the razor to cut2) skip pre-shave fluid. For me, the alcohol makes my pores swell just enough that they get nicked by the cutter and cuts me to ribbons.3) allow for adequate time. This razor requires patience and a soft touch. If I can get a close shave without irritation then anyone can4) after shaving, your face will be starved for moisture. Use a non-scented FACIAL moisturizer like cetaphil5) after a few minutes for the lotion to soak, follow with a non-alcohol aftershave. I have used Era Organics Shave Serum for years. It will sting for a few seconds as it soothes the areas irritated by the razor. It will sting because shaving is traumatic for skin. The following redness is caused by the serum soothing all the irritation. For me, it always disappears after 20 minutes. Always give new products a week or 2 before judging; skin needs time to adjust6) always clean the razor. It’s waterproof, so look on YouTube for a guide. It’s very simple with regular liquid soap and warm waterI hope this helps anyone who has similar issues. Considering I can now shave everyday, I think the extra time that’s required is well worth it
