Description A2 Art Student Acrylic Paints are specially designed for the needs of serious art students and hobby painters who wish to avoid the expense of buying top end professional artists colours whilst they are learning – however they would still like a high quality acrylic that contains light fast pigments. A2 Acrylics are strongly pigmented, using quality lightfast pigments, they are heavy bodied with the same consistency and handling qualities as a professional artist’s paint. They offer competitive pricing for students. Tubes are 120ml, and set contains Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Light Hue, Cadmium Red Medium Hue, Phthalo Blue, Cadmium Orange Hue, Alizarin Crimson, Dioxazine Purple and Phthalo Green. How to work with A2 Art Student Acrylic Paints effectively: Basic Preparation Surfaces: Use primed canvases, canvas boards, or heavy mixed-media paper. Avoid regular printer paper, as it will warp and wrinkle. Brushes: Synthetic bristles work best. Wet your brush slightly with water before dipping it into the paint to help it glide on smoothly. Palette: Use a plastic or disposable paper palette. Because acrylics dry rapidly, consider a stay-wet palette to keep your paints workable longer. Core Painting Techniques Wet-on-Dry: Apply wet paint over a completely dried layer to create crisp, defined edges. This is ideal for detailing and building opacities. Wet-on-Wet (Blending): Apply wet paint onto a slightly damp canvas or blend wet colours directly into one another on the surface for soft gradients. Impasto: Take advantage of A2’s heavy-body consistency. Apply thick, three-dimensional strokes using a palette knife or a stiff bristle brush. Glazing & Washes: Dilute the paint with water or an acrylic medium to create translucent, watercolour-like washes. Modifying with Mediums and Water Using Water: The solvent for acrylic paint is water. You can add a little water to make the paint fluid, but do not dilute it more than 50%, as this can break down the binder and weaken the paint film. Using Mediums: A2 paints are fully compatible with Atelier Painting Mediums, Grounds and Varnishes. Mix in heavy gels for extreme impasto or use slow-drying mediums if you need more time to blend. Clean-up and Finishing Brushes: Wash your brushes thoroughly with soap and water immediately after painting. Dried acrylic paint acts like plastic and will ruin bristles. Sealing: Once your painting is completely dry, you can protect it and adjust its final sheen using a protective varnish.
